Engagement

Engagement is the time period spent before getting married. In this lesson, we will learn about English when asking someone to marry and the terminologies when becoming engaged.

When a friend has been together with a boyfriend or girlfriend a long time, they usually ask when they are going to get married, or when they are going to get engaged.

"When are you going to get married?"
"When are you going to tie the knot?"
"When are you going to settle down?"
"When are you going to propose to her?"
"When are you going to ask her to marry you?"
"When do you think he is going to propose?"

After the big question is asked, then the two people are engaged.

"We got engaged last week."
"I got engaged about a month ago."
"We're going to have a short engagement."
"Our engagement is for about 6 months."
"We had an engagement party at a restaurant with both families."
"We really didn't have a formal engagement dinner."

You can get creative in the ways to ask your significant other to marry you, but the most general way is to simply say,

"Will you marry me?"

These four words cannot be replaced really. Mostly, it is how you ask it and in what situation.

When two people are engaged, then they are not boyfriend and girlfriend, instead, they refer to each other as fiancΘ.

"This is my fiancΘe."
"She is my fiancΘe."
"He is my fiancΘ."
"Where is your fiancΘ?"
"I want to meet your fiancΘ."

Engagement

Engagement è il periodo di tempo trascorso prima di sposarsi. In questa lezione impareremo inglese quando si chiede a qualcuno di sposarsi e le terminologie quando diventa impegnato.

Quando un amico è stata insieme con un fidanzato o fidanzata di un lungo periodo di tempo, di solito chiedono quando hanno intenzione di sposarsi, o quando hanno intenzione di fidanzarsi.

"Quando hai intenzione di sposarti?"
"Quando hai intenzione di legare il nodo?"
"Quando hai intenzione di stabilirsi?"
"Quando hai intenzione di proporre a lei?"
"Quando hai intenzione di chiederle di sposarti?"
"Quando pensi che sta andando a proporre?"

Dopo la grande domanda è chiesto, quindi le due persone sono impegnate.

"Ci siamo fidanzati la settimana scorsa."
"Mi sono fidanzato circa un mese fa."
"Stiamo per avere un breve fidanzamento."
"Il nostro impegno è per circa 6 mesi."
"Abbiamo avuto una festa di fidanzamento in un ristorante con entrambe le famiglie."
"Non ci abbiamo fatto una cena formale di impegno."

Si può essere creativi nei modi per chiedere il vostro altro significativo di sposarti, ma il modo più generale è quello di dire semplicemente,

"Mi vuoi sposare?"

Queste quattro parole non possono essere sostituiti davvero. Per lo più, è come chiedere e in quale situazione.

Quando due persone sono impegnate, quindi non sono fidanzato e fidanzata, invece, si riferiscono a vicenda come fiancΘ.

"Questo è il mio fiancΘe."
"Lei è la mia fiancΘe."
"Lui è il mio fiancΘ."
"Dov'è il tuo fiancΘ?"
"Voglio incontrare il vostro fiancΘ."
